Affiliate & advertising disclosure

Vietnam Wayfarer is an independent publication. We make money in three ways, and this page exists to be transparent about all three.

1. Display advertising

Some pages show display ads served by third-party networks (currently AdSense; planning to apply to Mediavine when traffic qualifies). Ad placement is handled by the network — we do not choose which advertiser appears. Ad revenue does not influence our editorial decisions.

2. Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you click through and make a purchase, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Currently this applies to:

• Booking.com— for hotel and accommodation links
• Klook / GetYourGuide— for tours and activities
• Wise— for money transfer accounts
• SafetyWing— for travel insurance
• Amazon Associates— for product recommendations

Affiliate links are clearly indicated where they appear, and we only recommend services we use ourselves or have personally tested.

3. Premium products (coming later)

We're planning to publish premium PDF guides and itineraries in 2026. When they launch, they will be clearly marked and sold directly — no drop-shipped affiliate junk.

What we don't do

• Sponsored posts disguised as editorial.If a piece of content is sponsored, it will be clearly marked “Sponsored” or “Partnered with [Brand].”
• Paid for positive reviews. Restaurants, tour operators, and hotels cannot pay to be featured or to be recommended.
• Press trips with editorial conditions. If we accept a comped stay or meal for review, we say so on the article and retain full editorial control over what we write.
