Y Ty 位于 Lao Cai 省 Bat Xat 县，海拔约 2,000 米，距离 Sapa 公路路程约 100 公里。大多数游客尚未听说过这个地方，这也正是为什么在日出时分——当云团像缓慢流动的河水般填满下方山谷时——站在山脊上所感受到的震撼显得如此来之不易。

这种现象每年只有两个时间窗口最为稳定。第一个窗口是 9 月下旬至 11 月上旬，雨季刚过，但冬季的干燥气候尚未完全到来。第二个窗口较短且不太稳定，从 12 月下旬持续到 1 月，此时北方冷空气南下，温差最大。10 月是摄影师最青睐的月份，尤其是 10 月中旬前后的两到三周，此时雾层最厚，梯田也正值收获季节，呈现出一片金黄。
在这些窗口期之外，你或许能在幸运的早晨看到部分雾气，但效果会大打折扣。夏季（6 月至 8 月）雨水充沛，低空云层遮挡了一切，无法形成层叠的云海效果。
Y Ty 的日出时间在 5:30 到 6:10 之间，具体取决于月份。你最好在太阳升起前至少 30 分钟到达山脊——日出前照亮云雾的光线比日出后的效果更好。
大多数人前往的主要观景点位于 Lung Vai 地区附近，距离 Y Ty 公社中心约 2 公里，沿土路即可到达。第二个位置更高，位于北侧，从摩托车停放处步行 20 分钟即可到达。当地人称之为“上层梯田观景点”；这里没有路标。前一天晚上请让你的民宿主人在手机上为你标注位置——他们大多习惯了这种请求。
在晴朗的夜晚，你可以通过观察晚上 9 点后山谷中是否积聚了云雾来判断第二天早上是否会有云海。如果有，就定好闹钟。如果天空一直晴朗到谷底，那么第二天早晨可能会让你失望。

标准的路线是乘坐夜间火车从 Hanoi 前往 Lao Cai（软卧票价约 320,000–430,000 VND），然后从 Lao Cai 市乘坐巴士或包车前往 Bat Xat 镇（约 60 公里，90 分钟），再行驶 40 公里的山路到达 Y Ty。最后一段路部分路段未铺设路面且狭窄——摩托车或小型四驱车是更实际的选择。在 Lao Cai 市租用半自动摩托车每天费用约为 150,000–180,000 VND。
一些游客会从 Sapa 出发，虽然路程更远，但沿途风景值得绕道而行。在干燥天气下，从 Sapa 经 Muong Hum 到 Y Ty 的摩托车车程约为 3 小时，雨天则需更久。
Y Ty 现在有一小批民宿，他们已经摸清了摄影游客的需求：日出前的早起早餐、带去山脊的茶水，以及关于清晨天气状况的可靠信息。价格为每人 150,000–250,000 VND，包含晚餐和早餐——性价比极高。
Y Ty 公社中心的一些民宿由 Ha Nhi 族家庭经营。条件较为简陋——薄床垫、共享户外浴室——但房主通常兼任非正式向导，如果夜间天气状况良好，他们会叫醒你。一些较新的旅馆增加了条件更好的私人房间，主要针对来自 Hanoi 的周末游客，价格在 400,000–500,000 VND 左右。对于专门追逐云海的游客来说，靠近观景步道比舒适度更重要，所以请优先考虑地理位置而非设施。
10 月的周末请提前预订。公社规模很小，但过去三年里前来的摄影师人数急剧增加。工作日则可以直接前往寻找住宿。

如果第一天早晨没能看到云海——这种情况时有发生——Y Ty 还有足够的内容填满第二天。Lung Vai 和 A Lu 村周围的梯田即使没有云海也十分上镜。每逢农历初六、十六和二十六，Bat Xat 镇会有 Ha Nhi 族集市；这是一个真实的贸易集市，而非旅游景点，如果时间凑巧，非常值得早起驱车前往。
如果行程较长，从 Lao Cai 出发，经 Bat Xat、Y Ty、Muong Hum 再回到 Sapa 的环线是一条扎实的 3 到 4 天线路。它所覆盖的地形比主要的 Sapa 路线更偏远，游客也更少。
Y Ty 的移动信号微弱——Viettel 在这里的表现优于其他运营商，但不要依赖耗费流量的导航。离开 Lao Cai 市之前请下载离线地图。10 月夜间气温会降至 8–12°C，1 月则会降至冰点以下；准备好保暖衣物是必须的。
